Gonstead Technique

The Gonstead Chiropractic Technique is a comprehensive system of chiropractic care developed by Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead in 1923. The guidelines are derived from Dr. Gonstead’s observations during his extensive clinical experience over 55 years in practice.

It is based on the principles of biomechanics, neurology, orthopaedics, and anatomy to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders and improve symptoms of pain and discomfort.

The Gonstead method of Chiropractic gives a trained Chiropractor a set of very useful guidelines to practise effective case management from collecting the patient’s history, carrying out relevant tests and developing and executing the appropriate health care plan.

This technique focuses on treating the spine as a whole instead of just individual vertebrae. We use elements of the Gonstead Technique with other chiropractic techniques to deliver better patient outcomes.

The technique involves a thorough physical examination that includes neurological tests, orthopaedic tests, x-rays, and palpation to identify areas of misalignment or dysfunction in the spine or extremities that may be causing pain or discomfort.

Treatment consists of gentle spinal adjustments to correct misalignments and restore proper function to the body’s systems.
